Tom Henschke

Mr. Henschke has nearly fifteen years experience in the insurance industry and is currently the President of SMC Insurance Agency as well as a President with SMC Business Councils. Tom came to SMC with a strong employee benefit and financial services background. He began his career as a Registered Representative with Prudential Preferred Financial Services.

While serving his country as a Sergeant in the PA Army National Guard, Mr. Henschke graduated with honors from Penn State University with his Bachelors degree in Finance and was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as, a participant in the University Scholars Program.

Currently, Mr. Henschke is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters, the PA Alliance for Association Advancement and is a volunteer Alumni mentor at Penn State University.

As President of the SMC Insurance Agency, Mr. Henschke is helping to grow this SMC affiliate. SMCIA’s mission is to help smaller businesses find reasonably priced health insurance. Since its inception in 1995, SMCIA has positioned itself to offer businesses health and group insurance and workers’ compensation coverage. In his position, Mr. Henschke has developed an excellent relationship with insurance carriers and has negotiated on behalf of SMC member-companies to lower proposed rate increases and provide benefit enhancements as well as additional plan options.

As an association Director, Mr. Henschke has established SMC Business Councils as a viable source of support and advocacy for smaller entrepreneurs and has personally introduced over 300 companies to the organization. He has also worked with the Harrisburg Area Community College Entrepreneurial Development Center to create Business Owners’ Workshops.
