What Information Does SMC Collect?
What information we collect. We collect personal information such as your contact information (name, e-mail address), billing/shipping information (credit card number, shipping address), or your personal preferences. When submitting personal information on an online form, we will identify which fields are required in order to fulfill your request.
When we collect information. We request personal information when you apply for membership online, apply for a job opening, register for an SMC event, and communication via email.
Does SMC Share The Information It Receives?
Information about our members is an important part of our business, and we are not in the business of selling it to others. We share member information only as described below and with subsidiaries SMC controls that are subject to this Privacy Notice.
SMC may need to share personal information with third parties in limited circumstances. For example, we may release personal information to third parties to perform services on our behalf such as: fulfilling customer’s requests, sending SMC marketing communications, delivering packages, sending regular mail and e-mail, or processing credit card payments.
We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; protect the rights, property, or safety of our members. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction. However, this does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from customers for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Policy.
How Secure Is The Personal Information We Collect?
Because your credit card security is a high priority, we have taken numerous steps to ensure that your payment information is processed confidentially, accurately and securely. The SMC Online Web site uses encryption technology, such as Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), to protect your credit card information during data transport. SSL encrypts ordering information such as your name, address, and credit card number.
Although we cannot guarantee against any loss, misuse, unauthorized disclosure, alteration or destruction of data, we take reasonable precautions to prevent such unfortunate occurrences. SMC cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us by e-mail and you do so at your own risk.
It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a share computer.
Does SMC Collect Information From Children?
We are committed to protecting the privacy of children. We will not knowingly or intentionally collect personal information online from children under the age of 13.
Do I Have Choices Regarding How My Information Is Used?
If your information is currently being used to send you marketing communications, you can opt-out at any time.

SMC will take reasonable steps to implement your request to opt out. However, please note that due to production and mailing timelines, it may take around six weeks to make the requested change and, until that change takes effect, you may still receive promotional information from us.

Because our Web sites will continue to implement new technologies and improve the services and features we provide, this policy is subject to change. If there are changes or additions to this Privacy Policy, we will post those changes here or in other formats we deem acceptable, so that you will always know what information we collect online or offline, how we use it and what choices you have.
